Printing Guide
Screen printing vs. DTG vs. transfers — how to choose, and how to prepare artwork for print.
Print methods
Screen printing: ink pushed through a mesh screen, one screen per colour. Best value at higher quantities, very durable, vivid solid colours.
DTG (direct-to-garment): the design is printed straight onto the fabric like a paper printer. Great for full-colour and photographic designs, and for small quantities with no setup cost.
Heat transfer / vinyl: a printed or cut film pressed onto the garment. Good for names and numbers, and short runs.
Choosing a method
1–20 items, full colour: DTG.
25+ items, 1–4 solid colours: screen printing.
Names, numbers or single-colour text on individual items: vinyl.
Artwork requirements
Vector (SVG / PDF / AI) is ideal. For raster art, supply 300 DPI at the final print size on a transparent background.
For screen printing, separate or flatten to solid spot colours and tell us the colour count.
White or light garments print most accurately. On dark garments a white underbase is added, which can slightly shift colours.
